Just found out when I logged into CoE that PJ and New Line have finally come to an agreement. ;D PJ will be executive producer of The Hobbit movie. The director hasn't been chosen yet but they will begin filming in 2009 with the 2 movies released in 2010 and 2011. Yay!!!! More can be read here and The Hobbit: Official Movie Blog. Merry Christmas Tolkien Fans.

Executive Producer COOL!!!! They have just as much pull as the director dont they? Who was the one director that PJ wanted to work with or wanted to work with PJ?

There was talk before of Sam Raimi (Spiderman director). But yes I believe PJ will have much influence, on the look and feel of the movies. Plus I believe PJ is the one who is doing the script. 2+ years seems a long way off right now, hopefully it will go by quickly.

According to this article here Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) will be directing the two Hobbit movies.

Well things may be delayed with the movie. It seems that the Tolkien estate is suing New Line for money they weren't paid with the Lotr movies and may stop them from making any more Tolkien movies. Check the article here to read all about it.

What is with fucking New Line and goshdarn money, i mean why not just pay the people what they desearve and leave it at that, the people at New Line are a bunch of assholes, and will do anything they want to keep every penny, all i have to say is what cheapskates. This is making me think twice about watching New Line movies.

Yes they are ridiculous. Talk about greed. The trilogy made something like 6 billion world wide and they can't pay people what they agreed to. And to rip off a Tolkien charity is just low. I wonder if Tolkien Estates will just let another film company make the movies or they will stop anyone from making them because of this. Hopefully they can all get something worked out and not delay The Hobbit any longer than it has already been delayed.

Well i just found out last night at work, that Warner Brothers actually owns New Line Cinemas and that they are no longer aloud to release big budget movies only low buget ones. I also found out that Robert Shaye is on his way to getting fired from New Line, Warner Brothers is firing his greedy ass, YAY!!!! Then if they settle every thing ok, maybe Warner Brothers will release The Hobbit.

That's good Hopefully things won't be delayed then. I believe (could be wrong though) that LotR was the first big budget movie that New Line did. Kind of like their test and sadly they have failed. Still unbelieveable what they have done.

I just hope they dont fuck things over even more for themselves with the money that they make off of The Golden Compas, and the future movies from that series!!!!

I read somewhere,(can't remember where) that The Golden Compass flopped so bad that they aren't sure they are going to make any more of them. There was something in the article too about New Line possibly being absorbed into Warner and that they may only allow New Line to make low budget movies. I am sure I saw it on CoE so I will go see if I can find it... Found it here if you are interested.
