Ah I'm such an amateur compared to all of you. I've read FOTR and TTT, currently reading ROTK. I realise I should have read The Hobbit first but shall read that after I've finished with this now.

Hi everyone, I am new here, I love the books and thought that I would try to get this subject going. Is anyone into reading Tolkien's works and if so what have you read so far? I have read The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit (of course), The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, 7 volumes of the Histories of Middle-earth series(The Book of Lost Tales part 1 and part 2, The Lays of Beleriand, The Shaping of Middle-earth, The Lost Road, The Return of the Shadow, and the Treason of Isengard). Just wondering if there are any other book heads here. You read mostly of Tolkien's work, congrats. However, I am far behind. I could only find time for LOTR, The Hobbit and Silmarilion.

I have read more since then. I am up to book 11 in The History of ME, have read Letters of J.r.r. Tolkien and Tolkien Biography by Humphrey Carpenter.

I'm very near the end of my reading The Hobbit. Enjoyable book and I love how I'm imagining everything as LOTR-film-style.

My husband and I are reading The Hobbit to our kids right now, they seem to be enjoying it. I also picture everything Lotr film style too. Hopefully when ever they make The Hobbit movie it is in the same style.

I have read the Hobbit first of all. This is defenately my favourite! It's simple, exciting and very easy on the mind. After that I read the LotR books, which were also pretty good. I have read them in English, so I might have missed a few parts, but I could still manage to read them nonetheless. the Silmarillon I read as well. I liked it, but it was pretty hard to read in another language then my own as well. Maybe I should read it in Dutch and then I might get it

Yeah the Sil is a great book but it can be hard to read the first time through, so much information. It is well worth it though.

Since my first post I have finished the HoMe series and have read The Children of Hurin. And now I am starting all over again. So much information it is hard to keep it all straight with one reading.
