Hey! I am Eowyn. This is my first poem to go public, so any input would be great! Thanks!
Eowyn the Fair
Written By: Amber Misterka
When you grow in the world of men, you learn to play the game.
You do things for honor, glory, and fame.
We try to leave things for the men, but we still need to protect ourselves.
It is assumed that it is the men who do all the glory.
But I say today: I am no man!
Being a daughter of Kings and a shield maiden is not easy work.
I have to be a leader when needed. I have to be strong for my people.
I do not fear death, which makes people believe that I am not afraid of anything.
They are easily mislead. Cages are for animals, something that I fear.
To be locked away till I die of old age.
That is what I fear.
But I shall leave all my fears behind me.
But I say today: I am no man!
I may have honorable blood, but human still am I.
I need to love someone and be loved in return.
I thought that I loved someone. I seen how everyone that loved him was following him into battle.
I said that I wanted to fight with him, but he said no.
He said that it is a shadow and a thought that I loved him.
His heart was already taken. I still went to war but not as I.
Today I say: I am a man.
The only one who knew who I was, was my wise little half-ling friend, Meridoc Brandybuck.
I fought alongside with my uncle, brother, friend, and the love of my life.
I was frightend but knew that I was doing the right thing.
I wanted to fight not be left behind.
I killed many orcs and even brought down a few oliphants.
They were just warm-ups because my hardest challenge was the witch king himself!
He called me a fool and I thought I was a goner.
Then he made the worst mistake of his life: he called me a man.
With the help from my brave Merry, I destroyed the Witch King.
My last words to him were: I am no man.
