I don't know. But I'm actually really glad that PJ left them out - I absolutely hate Tom Bombadil! I seriously could not have watched some unexplainable character in yellow and blue burst into song every five minutes... that would totally have ruined the film IMHO.

I suppose but it's still like a character in the story.. what was up with that orc leader? I never read about him in the novel.

That's true. Neither Lurtz nor Gothmog (as an Orc anyway) were canonical.
And MG > You've not read the books yet? Shame on you! lol Get reading girl! They're great.

Oh yes I know what you mean. I fell in love with Rivendell when I first saw it in the movie. I wish I could live there. If I was rich, I'd build my own Rivendell somewhere and hide out from the world lol. My fav part is probably Strider kicking Nazgul butt on Weathertop. I also like that they added the wood elves scene in the Shire when Sam and Frodo are on their way to Rivendell and the gift giving scene in Lorien. The part that made me sad was after Gandalf fell, that song when they are outside of Moria, so heartbreaking.

Actually I think it is four but don't know for sure either. My husband still cracks up at that part everytime we watch it and we have seen it many many times. I wish they would have added at least a little something of the Old Forest or Tom Bombadil. It is cool how they gave Treebeard his lines and Old Man Willow capturing Merry and Pippin later though.

yeah i was quite upset that he had cut Tom Bombadil from the movies... i mean i quite personally think he was a key character in fellowship and should have been put into the movie.

They could have just had a cameo of him and Goldberry or something.

yeah... i know in one of the interview things with pj he said he wished they could have brought tom into the movie but they didn't feel they could fit him in without making things too long. they just felt he could be completely cut.
